About

Becoming The Weekend Photographer

My name is Thomas and I am The Weekend Photographer. I love capturing the moments of life that make it all worthwhile - the ones that you will always remember.

I received a used, semi-professional camera from my aunt at the age of 14. It was broken but after fixing it and seeing the photos that it was able to take I fell in love with this craft and photography became my passion. I have now taken photos professionally for more than 14 years.

When our daughter arrived in 2017 she became the center of my universe and photoshoots moved to the weekends. Before I knew it, my profession became synonymous with my nickname and the website was born.

"Taking Photos Of People And Capturing Their Essence Is Almost A Magical Process For Me."
Thomas - The Weekend Photographer

Capturing people in their natural environment results in in truly personal, powerful and intimate images that reflects who they really are. That is why I keep posing to a minimum and my photos as candid as possible.

I like playing with light, shadows and focus and I am always open to new ideas and new challenges. Even thought the first photograph in history was taken over 190 years ago, photography is still evolving today. Advances in technology and trends are always changing and I love to be a part of it.

While in the past I captured landscapes, architecture, nature and animals my real passion are people. Art is best when it creates an emotion within the observer and people achieve that better than anything else.

While I rely mostly on the natural light and outdoor settings, there are times when artificial lighting and a studio setting can provide a desired look. A solid background can generate a distinct focus on the subject and a studio can be as powerful as the outdoors because it focuses on certain details and completely eliminates distractions.
